Welcome to So Safeguarding. My mission is to provide expert advice and guidance to professionals working with children, to improve safeguarding and child protection across the country.
Prior to my consultancy work I was the Safeguarding in Education Adviser, based in Children's Services, at Coventry City Council. In this role, I worked with early years, schools, colleges and universities to improve safeguarding and child protection policy, procedures and practice. I am a trained Signs of Safety Practice Lead and I am dedicated to improving the lives of children through working effectively with parents and families.
I have worked in schools for over 15 years and my most recent in-school role was as Designated Safeguarding Lead in a London secondary school. I understand how schools work, what needs to be prioritised and the regulatory frameworks that schools operate in.
As well as being experienced in working in education settings, I also work with businesses, charities and religious organisations to support safeguarding outside of school. I am passionate about contextual safeguarding and all support you receive will be tailored to your geographical area.
I live in Leicestershire with my husband and my daughter. When I am not reading Keeping Children Safe in Education, I love reading spy novels, travelling (under normal circumstances) and DIY.
